The Rain is A-Comin’

Posted in Art, Life, Photography with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 24, 2008 by O.

It was a dark Spring sky. The wind was howling, no birds were chirping and the train was coming…

Okay, seriously, this was the sky the other day. Soon after this photo was taken, it opened up and pummeled us with rain. So much for it never raining in Southern California.

Out of something so tragic comes something so beautiful…life is like that sometimes.

The Bird

I have the distinct feeling that this bird was posing for me.

And then off the bird goes…

Bootylicious Rule #5

Sometimes ladies, we just have to switch it up. We have to change things a little, do something different, keep it spicy, especially those of us who are in marriages or exclusive relationships.

Every diva runs the risk of getting stuck in a rut or stagnating from time to time. It is very easy when we have children, and work, and other day to day monotony to let ourselves go and become complacent. These are the times when we need to do something that will pick us up, and give us some pep in our step. One of the simplest ways to do this, is to change something about the way that we look. Our hair, an outfit, new makeup, or even a complete makeover.

Every few months, I try to switch things up, mainly because I get bored easily, but also because I am always wanting to keep everybody guessing. With me, you never know what you’re going to get. I may wake up one woman in the morning, and by night time, I am someone else completely different.
No, I don’t have Multiple Personality Disorder, (at least I am pretty sure I don’t), I just truly believe that variety is the spice of life.

If you have been feeling a little down, bored, or just plain blah, it is very possible that you just need a little change in your life. Don’t be afraid to get a cute sassy, haircut, or do like I did this past weekend, and add more hair for a really sexy, glamorous look.

Me with very short, sassy cut. Stunning, but short.

Me after playing beauty shop this weekend, stunning and a bit glamorous.

Okay, if that seems like too much work, you could stop by your local drugstore and buy a new lip gloss, part your hair a different way, or wear heels if you always wear flats. Today, try just one little thing that will feed your inner diva and I guarantee, you will feel fabulous and bootylicious for the rest of the week.

Bootylicious Rule #2 Celebrating Our Curves

Posted in beauty, Life, Personal with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 15, 2008 by O.

No matter who you are, you have something that you should celebrate about yourself, especially when it comes to your body.  All divas should celebrate the bodies that they’re in, especially if they are thinking about changing themselves.  We can’t be the best that we want to be until we accept what we already are. so start appreciating your bootylicious self today and loving who you are and making her the best she can be and soon you will see the pounds melt away, or the skin clearing up, or whatever minor flaw you think you may have disappear or simply not matter anymore.  The world will See fabulous if you allow your present self to BE fabulous.

I know that I am always talking about booties and being bootylicious. That is because I think it is important for every woman to celebrate her curves, and for that matter, every man should celebrate the curves of every woman too. I am proud of my bootylicious body. Stick figures are for comic strips.

Am I a little narcissistic when it comes to my curves?? Ya damn skippy I am. If I don’t think I’m sexy, who else will?

I am appreciating everything

about myself no matter who

else likes it.

I hope all the women who read this are as excited about their unique bodies as I am. Love yourself, you’re the only you that you’re ever gonna be.

You have to order it like that or else it throws the whole thing off.  It’s cool, I like speaking in code.  It is kind of spy-like, Jane Bondish if you will.  So yeah, pretty much I’m broke, with my business bank cards and personal credit cards tucked away in my cute little Prada bag (one of those wonderful Korea finds). Could be a knock off.  Okay, who am I kiddin?  But it is very cute, matches my IPhone, you know, chic like that (the IPhone is one bill that is always paid early cuz a Diva Muse has to have her cell phone. I know it’s shallow, that’s my alter ego talking).

Oh and did I mention that the hot water heater is busted in this big ass ostentatious house that we are renting?  Add that to the four times we had to call the heater guy out this past winter and I would have to say quite sarcastically that the obscene amount of money we pay each month must surely be worth it.

Sidebar: Why did the Barista taking my order ask for my first name while holding my credit card in his hand?  He never even looked at it.  It could have been your credit card, but I am sure you have more than $4.39 on yours.  He pretty much spelled my name wrong too. I don’t know who the person was that he put on my cup. But I am thinking that maybe I should be her for awhile.

Back to the original thought. I am not bummed out by the lack of funds. How could I be when there are so many other things to be bummed out by like feeling invisible in my pseudo diverse suburban neighborhood or feeling like a failure because my kids think that I should have a better career besides Mom and Artist. Or figuring out that dogs actually whine like kids which is really annoying.  If nothing else is going my way, I do have to say, I’m still pretty hot for 37.  With looks and style like mine, who really cares if there is no hot water?

Ok, so a sistah can dream right?  LOL
